I've got a certain some one who is interested in role playing a scene with myself as the nurse and with himself as the patient. I'm absolutely willing and excited to do this thing but the truth is that role play has not been a large part of my experience and the nurse fantasy has never been my own. I was wondering if any of you had stories or suggestions about nurse/doctor role playing that was particularly pleasant or memorable.

It should be noted that the patient in question is neither masochistic nor highly submissive. If anything he is a tad on the dominant and sadistic side, though not strongly so. This requires a mostly vanilla scene, white chocolate at most.

AN Adelaide man has been acquitted of assaulting and having unlawful sex with a teenager he met via a vampire website.

A South Australian District Court jury took four hours today to find Warwick Acott, 39, of Seaton, not guilty of one count of having unlawful sex with a teenager he met on vampirefreaks.com, and two counts of assaulting her.

The girl said he stalked her for years with sexually violent messages before pushing his way into her house on June 18, 2006 - when she was 16 - biting her breast, whipping her with a cat o' nine tails and forcing her to perform fellatio.

But Mr Acott said the girl pursued him, telling him he was gorgeous and she wanted to be his slave, after finding his photograph on the vampire website.

He said he was flattered and fascinated when she told him she was a ``pain junkie'' and wanted to be his whore.

He told the jury he'd broken off contact with the girl twice after finding out she had lied about her age.

But he was happy to see her again when she tapped him on the shoulder in a sex shop, and asked him to buy her a whip for her 16th birthday.

He said she invited him home, where he admitted he whipped and bit her - at the girl's request.
But he denied the fellatio occurred, saying he pushed her away when she revealed sex would be unlawful due to her age.

Seventeen is the age of consent in SA unless both parties are 16.

Mr Acott said that after he unleashed a tirade of abuse at her, she warned him she would make him suffer.

The girl admitted a series of lies in her evidence, including that Acott had cut her with a scalpel.
Outside the court, Mr Acott said he was relieved justice had been done.

"All I have to say is I'm very grateful to the jury, I'm pleased they came to the right verdict,'' he said.

In the second part of the workshop, everyone will have the oppourtunity to make their very own functional rope flogger! But naughty toys are nothing new – our ancestors were far from prudish.

Here, with the help of three experts – sexologist Tracey Cox, the owner of posh sex emporium Coco De Mer, Sam Roddick and the editor of saucy women's magazine Scarlet, Sarah Hedley – we look back on more than 2,000 years of sex toys.

Circa 350BC: Olive oil was first used as a lubricant.

Cox (www.traceycox.com) says it's a lot better than baby oil which 'has a nasty habit of eating rubber and making condoms as effective as cling film'.

500BC: In Greece, priests used dildos in rituals to deflower virgins.

They believed the hymen was dangerous to mere mortals and the act of breaking one would result in death.

Circa 655: Mirrors were introduced as sexual accessories.

Lady Wu Chao, the wife of Chinese emperor Tai Tsung, had sheets of reflecting glass placed around their bed.

Hedley says this shows 'the myth that women aren't visually stimulated in the same way as men is nonsense'.

When courtiers insinuated mirrors were a bad omen, the emperor had them removed but Wu Chao reinstalled them after his death to use with her lovers.

Circa 1600: The modern penis ring and clitoral stimulator were invented in China.

Circa 1850: A rubber dildo was introduced.

1869: Dr George Taylor developed the first vibrator.

The steam-powered apparatus was used to treat 'female hysteria'.

The supposed symptoms were anxiety, irritability, sexual fantasies, pelvic heaviness and excessive vaginal lubrication – in other words, sexual arousal.

The patients were 'treated' with the vibrator until they experienced relief through 'paroxysm' (orgasm). 'Isn't it odd,' says Hedley. 'In effect, doctors were turned into sex workers.'

1899: America's first ad for a battery vibrator appeared in McClure's magazine.

It was advertised as a cure for headaches, wrinkles and nerve pain.

Cox says that 'despite supposed sexual liberation, they were still passing them off as back massagers with handy attachments for “those sensitive areas”'.

Vibrators were also advertised in needlecraft and home magazines.

Hedley says the ambiguity of these adverts was laughable. 'I'd love to see them back in magazines – there's a certain retro chic to them.'

1911: The plug-in vibrator was the fifth household appliance to be electrified. 'It's good to see we had our priorities right even then,' says Cox. 'The vibrator is the best invention since penicillin and mascara.'

1927: KY Jelly was introduced, initially used by physicians to improve women's comfort during pelvic exams.

1930: Development of latex rubber. It was lighter and softer than normal rubber and revolutionised contraception, making way for the production of better condoms and diaphragms.

1952: The American Medical Association declared hysteria was not really an ailment.

Since the vibrator would no longer be used as a medical device, it had to be acknowledged for its real purpose.

1953: Debut of Playboy magazine. Although it was attacked as pornography, Hedley says the early issues were extremely tame.

'Compared with today's Nuts and Zoo, early Playboy looks like an issue of Good Housekeeping.'

Swinging 60s
1961: The birth control pill became available on the NHS.

1981: Ann Summers, hailed as the company that brought sex aids to suburbia, launched its first party plans.

1998: The Rabbit vibrator made an appearance on HBO's Sex And The City series. After the episode aired, sales skyrocketed.

2001: Posh sex shop Coco De Mer opened in London's Covent Garden. Roddick says her shop unveils ancient attitudes towards sex: 'It used to be far more romantic and fantastical – unlike today's view of sex, which is about function rather than a theatrical performance.'

2004: Scarlet magazine (www.scarletmagazine.co.uk) launches. Intended as a sexy lifestyle publication for women, including information on topical issues such as women's rights, it was often viewed as an adult magazine.

Hedley says this view was wrong. 'But at last, society seems to accept that women are interested in sex and it doesn't make them deviant in any way.'

Sex scenes: In the realm of the senses

What makes a genuinely erotic film? Liz Hoggard goes in search of the secrets of great screen sex

What makes a film truly erotic? Unrequited longing, transgression, voyeurism? Can men and women ever agree? And why are film polls on the subject always so disappointing? Channel 4's 100 Greatest Sexy Moments was a prime example. The Top 10 ended up a mix of soft-core classics (Basic Instinct, Emmanuelle, Nine 1/2 Weeks) and films that treat sex as slapstick (American Pie, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?). There was very little grown-up discussion of the co-ordinates of desire.

Which is why director Sophie Fiennes' latest project, The Pervert's Guide to Cinema, which is showing at selected screenings around the country, is so refreshing. In her trilogy, the cult philosopher and psychoanalyst Slavoj Zizek takes us on a brilliant and unhinged road-trip through some of the greatest movies ever - from Hitchcock's romantic epic Vertigo, to the films of David Lynch and Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut, delving into the hidden language of cinema, and uncovering what movies can tell us about ourselves. Key to The Pervert's Guide is an exploration of the relationship between desire and fantasy in film.

"Today in film financing," says Fiennes, "there's this obsession about plot and about scripts and about a story and 'would a character do this?'. It's making cinema very thin in terms of the density of feeling that it can generate." For Fiennes, the critical factor is in how a film's form delivers its narrative, because the mind/body relationship to the moving image is extremely complex. "I agree with Zizek when he says the true cinematic pleasure resides in the 'libidinal density of cinematic form itself', and it's actually very mysterious. When you go to a David Lynch film, you feel that uncomfortable moment. Something happens where it's like... woaah. There's an intersection of elements conspiring to make it a moment that's memorable or disturbing, and it's often beyond the basic narrative."

Viewed through a psychoanalytic lens, the movies she and Zizek analyse in The Pervert's Guide become far more arousing than pornography precisely because we see so little flesh, and because we see how subtly these films play with our desire. The Pervert's Guide uncovers cinema's ability to speak to our dark libidinous urges. In part one, Zizek tells us, "Cinema is the ultimate pervert art. It doesn't give you what you desire - it tells you how to desire." Film arouses our desire while simultaneously "keeping it at a safe distance, domesticating it, rendering it palatable".

Zizek is a riveting presenter. He never talks down to his audience - explaining the most complex Lacanian/ Marxist theories through Hollywood film clips. In fact, he is so compelling it's easy to forget the films were directed at all. But Fiennes is the master puppeteer behind the scenes. It was her decision to flesh out his monologues by shooting at original Hollywood locations and on replica sets - such as the Bates Motel in Psycho, or getting Zizek to steer a boat through Bodega Bay as Tippi Hedren did in The Birds. This gives us the illusion that Zizek is speaking from within the films themselves.

Even the film's sexy title is part of the tease. "The film's title is just a way to get you into this Zizekian network," laughs Fiennes. "But, yes, cinema is a kind of ritual through which we expect to experience sensations: it physically affects us and in this sense what we find in the cinema is disturbingly real, not all that fictional. The most extreme example, of course, is pornography; there you can measure the effect at its crudest."

The great test of many of the films featured in The Pervert's Guide is that they stand up to repeated viewing. "You can measure your development psychically against certain films: they almost become like boxes containing part of your psyche," says Fiennes. From Lynch's Lost Highway and Ingmar Bergman's Persona to Michael Haneke's The Piano Teacher, the clips in The Pervert's Guide demonstrate how fantasy is the battleground of the war between the sexes. Zizek argues that it is the very excess of female desire that poses a threat to male identity. Vertigo emerges as the most damning example of them all, where "for the male libidinal economy," Zizek states, "the only good woman is a dead woman". In fact, in Vertigo, Scottie (James Stewart) doesn't want a flesh-and-blood sexual partner, preferring to "recreate" a fictional woman (who is dead, but actually never existed). The only way Judy, played by Kim Novak, can have sex with him is to submit to his fantasy.

Sometimes paranormal events in a film can represent forbidden sexuality. For Zizek, Hitchcock's The Birds is all about incestuous tension: Mitch's mother (who looks uncannily like an older version of his girlfriend) is threatened by her son's relationship with the blonde outsider, Tippi Hedren, so that the attacks of the birds are "explosive outputs of maternal super-ego". "But the brilliant twist here," says Fiennes, "is that this maternal superego is actually the male fantasy, it is Mitch's own incestuous internal conflict, not his mother's. Like poor Norman Bates in Psycho."

Inevitably most of the directors featured in The Pervert's Guide are male (historically, they have had greater access to the means of production). Which is why Fiennes was so determined to include the no-holds seduction scene from In The Cut, where Mark Ruffalo tells Meg Ryan, "I can be whatever you want me to be. You want me to romance you, take you to a classy restaurant... if you want me to be your best friend and fuck you, no problem."

It is a political moment, she argues. "In making this film, it was quite tragic that while Zizek is arguing for women having this amazing capacity to fantasise, these fantasies seem to be strangely absent, as it were unpublished, invisible." A point that is backed up by director Kimberly Peirce in the current documentary This Film Is Not Yet Rated - where she reveals that Boys Don't Cry got an N-17 rating because Chloë Sevigny's orgasm scene was considered too visceral.

As for the sex scenes in In The Cut - "a film that is brilliantly interesting for us women - was just ridiculed when it first came out," says Fiennes. "It was demonised and erased. Male critics hated the Mark Ruffalo character, but if you ask women they have quite a different response. Making The Pervert's Guide I started to get the overwhelming sensation that men and women don't actually see or hear the same thing when they watch a film. It is what psychoanalysis calls 'sexual difference'."

For Fiennes, film works like alcohol: it gives you Dutch courage to take on the chaotic nature of life, to help you plot the co-ordinates of your desire for better or for worse. The Pervert's Guide To Cinema targets the brain and the libido - it's a great date movie.

Top 10 Lesbian Vampire Flicks

There is something undeniably sexy about the lesbian vampire. She is about both death and desire, flirting with our morbid curiosity about the afterlife as well as our sexual fantasies. Yes, there is a problematic relationship between sexuality and violence in these movies, and many lesbian vampire flicks are nothing more than vehicles for the male desire to see hot women biting each other. Yes, the lesbian vampire is an expression of men's fears of women's sexuality and, ultimately, is often killed because she openly expresses this sexuality.
But beyond these straightforward feminist interpretations, the lesbian vampire is campy good fun for dykes, complete with plenty of heaving bosoms framed by low-cut gowns held up by, apparently, the sheer force of evil. Besides, for decades the lesbian vampire was the only way that lesbian characters could exist onscreen and display any sort of open sexual attraction to one another. No wonder lesbian viewers have a fondness for the sexually provocative, sophisticated lesbian vamp.

Most lesbian vampire movies are based on two stories: the legend of Countess Elizabeth Bathory, or J. Sheridan LeFanu's novella Carmilla (1871). Bathory was a 16th-century Hungarian noblewoman who reputedly murdered 650 virgins and bathed in their blood under the belief that it would preserve her youth. Carmilla, a 19th-century novella published 25 years before Bram Stoker's Dracula, is the tale of Countess Millarca Karnstein, who falls in love with her female victims.

The heyday of the lesbian vampire film was the 1970s; from 1970–74, more than 20 of these movies were released. Though the lesbian vampire continues to be a stock character in porn, she is far more rare these days on the big screen, though she made some memorable appearances on the small screen in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Xena: Warrior Princess. It seems that the time is ripe for another filmic reinterpretation of Carmilla. After all, the lesbian vampire — who looks like a beautiful, innocent human woman but in reality is a terrifying killer who undermines the rule of men — is the perfect vehicle for America's post-9/11 terrorist fears.

According to Andrea Weiss, author of Vampires and Violets: Lesbians in Film, “outside of male pornography, the lesbian vampire is the most persistent lesbian image in the history of the cinema.” So turn down the lights, ladies, and settle in for some Gothic gloom this Halloween season. It's time to pay homage to our fair forebear (and the lesbian vampire is always irresistibly hot) by running down 10 of the best lesbian vampire flicks out there.

10. Eternal (2004): Set in Montreal and Venice, this film made the rounds at LGBT film festivals in 2004 despite the fact that it was clearly a film made by straight men for straight men. But it shows that the allure of the lesbian vampire still remains viable today, even though few lesbian vampire flicks are made anymore.

9. Lust for a Vampire (1971): This movie is the second in a trilogy of lesbian vampire films from England's Hammer Films, a company known for its horror flicks. (The third is called Twins of Evil and involves, one supposes, evil twins.) Lust for a Vampire combines a girls' boarding school with the tried-and-true narrative trick of author researching material for a book. One of the hallmarks of the film is the tendency of the schoolgirls' dresses to fall off their shoulders, and male voyeurs are ever-present in this movie, watching girls swimming and kissing, waiting behind the door to a room in which two women are engaged in, well, vamping with each other. It's not the best lesbian vampire flick out there, but its glee at depicting two girls in lust with each other (albeit a deadly lust involving blood-sucking) is at least mildly entertaining.

8. Vampyros Lesbos (1971): Directed by Jess Franco, who also wrote and directed the excellently titled Killer Barbys vs. Dracula, the schlocky film Vampyros Lesbos is the tale of young American lawyer Linda Westinghouse, who is working in Istanbul (because she'd have to be in Eastern Europe to be closer to potential lesbian vampires). She has provocative dreams about a brunette who first harasses then seduces her (in the typical violence-plus-sensuality trope of lesbian vampire films). When her job takes her to a small island off the coast of Turkey, her nightmares, of course, come true. Besides being one of the only (or possibly the only) lesbian vampire film to reference Lesbos in the title, this is unquestionably the only film with the colorful tagline, “A Psycho-Sexadelic Horror Freakout!”

7. Les Frissons des Vampires (1970): In this film from French horror director Jean Rollins, a young couple (typical characteristic of lesbian vampire films No. 1, check) on their honeymoon (No. 2, check) stops off at a gloomy castle (No. 3, check) which they discover is inhabited by evil vampires (you saw that coming, didn't you?). Also known as The Shiver of the Vampires or Strange Things Happen at Night, Les Frissons provides what scholar Bonnie Zimmerman describes as “a striking articulation of the male fantasy of the ‘butch' lesbian, complete with metal chains and black leather boots.” Leather dyke vampires seducing beautiful, innocent straight girls! Be forewarned: This film slides perilously close to the S/M dungeon scenarios of many a porn flick and is not for the faint of heart.

6. Vampyres (1974): Also known as Daughters of Dracula, this film features a lesbian vampire couple who draws unwitting passers-by (could they be young, honeymooning couples?) to their Gothic English mansion, where they become unwitting victims — until one of the vampires falls for one of her love-slave victims. Or, as the tagline shrieks, “They shared the pleasures of the flesh, and the horrors of the grave!”
5. The Velvet Vampire (1971): In one of the few lesbian vampire flicks directed by a woman (Stephanie Rothman), The Velvet Vampire has a feminist twist (I'm not telling you what it is). Desert-dwelling vampire Diane LeFanu (Celeste Yarnall) comes to town one day and meets young, hippie couple Lee and Susan Ritter. Yes, Diane proceeds to seduce both of them — how did you guess? Perhaps because one of the most-used tropes of the lesbian vampire movie is a lesbian vampire engaged in a bisexual triangle with a straight man and an innocent (heretofore heterosexual) woman, who is desired by both.

4. The Vampire Lovers (1970): The first of the trilogy of films featuring lesbian vampires from the English horror studio Hammer Films, The Vampire Lovers stars buxom Polish actress Ingrid Pitt in a recreation of the LeFanu tale Carmilla. In the one major departure from the novella, the film is narrated by a male vampire hunter, thus enabling the male viewer to act as voyeur to a story that includes several scenes of nubile, topless young women as well as their vampiric mistress, Carmilla, aka Marcilla. (Her name, you see, is an anagram. Possibly symbolizing how one version of her is evil, the other an innocent young maiden seduced by the dark side — oops, that was a bit melodramatic.)

This film presents the typical story line that nearly all lesbian vampire movies follow: “a lesbian vampire and a mortal man compete for the possession of a woman,” as Weiss explains. The mortal man, of course, eventually triumphs by killing the lesbian vampire, thereby safely restoring heterosexual domination to the world. Unfortunately for him, the lesbian vampire — the “bad girl” — exhibits the stronger sexual attraction for the innocent, previously straight woman. Of course, it's possible that this is due to the fact that the men in lesbian vampire films, including The Vampire Lovers, are stupid and boorish in comparison to the sophisticated, elegant seductions of the lesbian vampire, who has had centuries to perfect her sexiness and acquire a seriously killer wardrobe.

3. Blood and Roses (1960): One of the earlier lesbian vampire movies, Blood and Roses is also based on the Carmilla story — at least insofar as it includes a character named Carmilla, who becomes possessed by the spirit of a vampire ancestress. Interestingly, this film is narrated by Carmilla herself, and is less violent or sexual than later lesbian vampire films. This means that most of the lesbianism is highly subtextual and the film itself resembles an art film more than a horror movie. Ultimately, the vampire is destroyed, but her soul is transferred into the body of her victim, thereby living on after her death. The director, Roger Vadim, went on to write and direct Barbarella.

2. Daughters of Darkness (1971): In this cult classic, a newlywed couple decides to spend their honeymoon (yep, that's right) in an empty luxury hotel (substituting for the gloomy Gothic manor) on the Belgian coast. They encounter the sophisticated, coolly beautiful Countess Elizabeth Bathory and her “secretary,” a brunette with a pageboy and a nubile young body. The Countess Bathory is played with high style by French actress Delphine Seyrig, who supported many women's issues and went on to direct Look Beautiful and Keep Your Mouth Shut, starring Shirley MacLaine and Jane Fonda, about sexism in the film industry.

Daughters of Darkness departs from the typical lesbian vampire story line by its unusually feminist interpretation of men. In one scene, Countess Bathory, whose mature precision is tempered by bursts of what appears to be innocent sincerity, tells newlywed Valerie that her husband “wants to make of you what every man wants of every woman: a slave, a thing, an object for pleasure.” Valerie's husband, the least sympathetic character in this film, is not only a sadist who enjoys beating his wife with a belt, but is also a closeted homosexual (unfortunately). Although Countess Bathory dies in the end in a particularly spectacular moment of accidental violence, her spirit (if she has one) lives on in the character of Valerie, who is seen at the end of the film seducing another young couple, just as Countess Bathory did to her.

1. The Hunger (1983): This quintessential lesbian vampire movie stars the icy but stunning Catherine Deneuve as Miriam Blaylock (a character based on Countess Elizabeth Bathory) as she seduces a slightly butch scientist Sarah Roberts, played by Susan Sarandon (OK, it's the rolled-up T-shirt sleeves that do it for me). Directed by Tony Scott, who went on to direct Top Gun and Domino (about reportedly nonlesbian bounty hunter Domino Harvey), The Hunger parts ways from traditional lesbian vampire movies by not only including an actual sex scene between the vampire and her victim (although yes, a body double is sometimes used for Catherine Deneuve in this scene), but also by allowing Miriam the vampire to live on in the body of Sarah Roberts even after she is destroyed. The lesbian vampire triumphs!

NYC to change ID rules for transgendered

NEW YORK - The city wants to make it easier for transgender New Yorkers to switch the sex listed on their birth certificate even without undergoing sex-change surgery, putting the city at the forefront of efforts to redefine gender.

Under present city rules, only people who can show proof of surgery qualify for getting a revised birth certificate. Even then, the only change made is the elimination of any reference to gender on the document.

The new plan, unveiled in September, would let birth records reflect the new gender. It would also allow changes for people who hadn't had genital surgery, but could show substantial proof that they have undertaken other steps to irrevocably alter their gender-identity - like undergoing hormone therapy.

The policy change is one that advocates for New York's sizable transgender community have requested for years, but which has taken on greater significance in a post-Sept. 11 world of increased security.

New Yorkers need to show picture ID to enter office towers, air terminals, public monuments and all sorts of government buildings. They need them to apply for a job too, or buy beer at a neighborhood deli.

The trouble comes when someone inspects those documents, and notices that a person's listed gender doesn't appear to match the way they look and dress.

"That can be a very dangerous situation for a transgender person," said Cole Thaler, transgender rights attorney for the national legal aid group Lambda Legal.

Thaler said having a birth certificate with a gender that matches a person's appearance will ease the way to getting other government records, including passports, drivers' licenses and Social Security records.

Lorna Thorpe, Deputy Commissioner of New York's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, called the current system "outdated."

"A lot of transgender persons use different techniques to switch genders," she said. Some try hormones. A smaller number undergo surgery - in part because not everyone is medically capable of undergoing the procedure.

All but three states now allow people who have had a sex change to get a new birth certificate and New York City has done so since 1971. The city now issues about a dozen of the revised birth certificates a year.

Of the states that allow similar changes of birth certificates, almost all currently require proof of a gender-reassignment surgery.

Tennessee has a law expressly prohibiting a change of gender on a birth certificate. Ohio and Idaho also won't allow the change because of court rulings or as a matter of administrative policy.

So darrrlings,

I kept it quiet because I didn't know what to think about the tribe changes. I guess you heard about

a) the TOU changes
b) the new design drama

For a): I decided to go public instead of automatically being private, cuz that would make us impossible to find for new interested people.
The new TOU forbids to post any "obscene" pics if you don't at least have the models contract. Above that, anybody can "flag" anything they find offensive to be removed, especially since this is a public tribe.

But I think we should just see what happens. Nothing so far. Since I'm in Europe, I'm really not afraid to get prosecuted or anything, but you should decide for yourself.

The other question is, whether a platform like tribe.net is still worth being on, after starting such a war on freedom of speech.

Personally, again, I'd just like to stay and see what happens. If they would really start deleting text or photos from my tribes, I might decide to give up on them and leave. But not yet.

Nothings going on here, and I feel it's partly due to confusion about the recent changes. However, lots of new people signed up! I guess they found us via the "BDSM pointer tribe" (a good way to find the now private mature tribes).

So, I'd like to revive this community and make a little introduction round in a new thread. Wake up everybody and let's have a nice conversation!
